Everything in this career has come full circle.
Chiya Lloyd, Esq. started in 2008 as a licensed real estate agent and refinance specialist, watching everyday people take on the biggest financial commitments of their lives. Then came federal contract procurement with the Department of Veterans Affairs — learning from the inside how government regulation actually works.
Then law school — where, after her first year, the U.S. Department of Labor hired her as an ERISA Investigator. She carried that job full-time through the remainder of her J.D. at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law, stepping back only to sit for the bar. For nearly twelve years, she investigated employee benefit plans — fiduciary breaches, prohibited transactions, misapplied employee contributions — reviewing thousands of payroll and benefit records across plans of every size.
At every one of those desks, the same thing lingered: behind every record is a person counting on that money. And too many were losing pieces of it to errors, overreach, and practices they never knew they could fight.
Pearson Law, LLC was founded in 2014 — built alongside that federal service, and a full-time practice since 2023 — on one premise: there is no amount too small to protect.
Credentials: J.D., University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. B.S. Public Policy Administration, University of Missouri–St. Louis. Licensed in Missouri (2013) and Kansas (2025). Investigator (ERISA), U.S. Department of Labor, 2011–2023.
The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely upon advertisements.
